The new generation thought stock market is for educated people where you understand the company principles/profits/analysis etc... But it is turning out more like GAMBLING.

I am from Bangalore. Most of the major cosmopolitan cities prices will remain stable(10-15% changes) . If you are looking at long term investment, go ahead and buy LAND.
After 5-10 years, you can sell and use it for your kid's education or you can construct
rental houses.

Check my earlier post. , I was able to talk to IO at TSC, and he had my file assigned to him the same day. There was a problem , in there system , anf my I-140 was showing

We are really now in a global credit/liquidity crisis. Please see the link below to see the cash crunch the major real estate players like DLF are in. Your comment reminded me of something I had penned down right after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh visit to the US. It was very depressing.

The labor certification process is technically supposed to take 12 months.
Post 9-11, grinding to a near halt the labor certification process of permanent residency applicants is a �win-win� opportunity for the government. Get these highly skilled laborers on a short-term lease of an H1B. Pass off the bureaucracy and red tape of the INS on the process of Homeland security. The latest breakdown, the INS information technology system has been down for 6 weeks now. When asked questions about a status of the system, they donot respond

But, the American government and citizens hugely profit from the brief stay of these H1B�s in America. H1B�s make money, 99% of which is placed in American banks, which enables banks to fund American projects of citizens and noncitizens. They buy American stock, pay into a social security system and a pension fund that the may not have access to when they themselves are seniors- after all the H1B is only for 6 years. Besides the obvious monetary contributions, they contribute culturally, linguistically and through charity to American society

After all there are no visible chains around their feet, they are free to return and contribute to the economy of their own countries. But the �American dream� is an invisible chain currently held by INS merchants as they pull, push or decide to hold steady their white-collar slaves.

I'm sure there are some intelligent and caring lawmakers somewhere who listen to legal immigrants' plight. They don't seem to be in enough or meaningful numbers. Most are interested in either keeping their seats or serving a subsection of their community.
Again, I believe they are moved mostly by lobbyists and other power groups. I don't yet fully understand how much power IV can wield, but IV could be one such group.
Lawmakers care about high-skilled immigrants only because people like B. Gates, Compete America and such keep lobbying any and all the time.
BTW, I'm not at all short-sighted about this. I'm just more realistic about how things happen in Washington. Need proof: For example, look at the staffers on McCain's campaign. Most are lobbyists. Understanding how democracy works in America and commenting about it is what the real big picture is.

After all the "immigration" bills only benefit folks who don't vote immediately. But one of lawmakers duty is to build the next generation America, and "immigration" bills benefit next generation America. People got to understand this fundamental difference and stop being pessimistic about IV efforts.

How true! In fact not only we have to maintain H1B to be able to "bring" spouses but we have to MAINTAIN H1B until the our PD becomes current to be able to maintain spouse's H4 status.

These two bills passed the House waiting for the Senate action.
There are many other immigration bills pending in the House and the Senate, some of which were attached to the Iraq War Emergency Special Spending bill in the Senate and all of these bills were killed by either the Senate majority leaders or hardliner minority Senators primarily related to the AgJOBs bill which was considered by the illegal immigration relief opponents as an amnesty legislation which the Democrats attempted to pass as part of the national election year strategy.
The employment-based immigration bills are currently facing a strong resistance from the comprehensive immigration reform advocates opposing piecemeal immigration legislations and deeply tangled in the election year party politics. The comprehensive immigration reform proponents appear to take a strategy of holding the immigration legislation at bay until next January or February, while the employment-based piecemeal immigration proponents want the Congress to pass these bills before the end of the year. As the primaries of the Democratic Presidential nomination are about to wind down and the election politics will pick up the heat of steam of the presidential fights between the Republican candidate and the Democratic Candidate, both of the candidates may noticeably try to move to the center to grab independent voters, giving added strength to the comprehensive immigration reform proponents as opposed to the employment-based piecemeal immigration reform proponents. From the perspectives of the employment based immigration legislation, there lie some uphill battles. We will closely watch and monitor the drama for the next two or three months. Unless any EB based bills are compromised and passed during the period, the chance for the EB reform will practically evaporate in 2008. Please stay tuned.

I am already financially/emotionally drained out due to my accident. I guess its going to be deja-vu for me again.
Now I have hardly any money in my bank accounts(around 14K to be precise), and no house , which seems to be a good news and they cannot rip off much.
Only questions I have now are:
1. Any idea generally how long these things can go on?
2. During the trial will there be any restrictions on leaving the country (In genuine emergency situations)?
3. In the worst case if I am willing to give-up my GC..would it still make sense for us(my spouse and 2 kids) to go thru all this emotional stress all over again by staying here and thinkign about what will happen tomorrow...?
One more suggestion:
1. Start withdrawing cash from bank accounts and leave the cash with someone whom you trust.
2. US can put pressure Indian counterpart to freeze your Indian bank accounts, hence don't tranfer monies in any of your or your wife's accounts.
3. Keep liquid cash on hand (not even in bank's safe deposit box)
Just thinking out loud.

however after coming here , Paid for my own ticket and landed here on start of january 2011.
