Post doc is a position not a US educational qualification and hence not a benefitiary of SKIL bill. The SKIL bill included US Master's and Ph.D's.
With your US MS you should not have any problem. Would require 3 years work experience to allow one to self adjust. We will need to wait and see what happens when it is introduced again in the new congress.

I don't think the legal immigrant community has a problem of contributing 20 dollars or 50 dollars to IV. We are sure we all can afford it. Then why do u think members are not contributing?
I think we need to start contribution setup from state level and then the total amount should be be given to the core. If certain state groups organize meetings, email call their members and ask every member for some contribution they will contribute.
The only way is to go approach each member, talk to them, answer their problems and ask for contributions.

Steady march!, not fast march!! ;) I am very hopeful of the dates moving past mid 2002 for FY 2009. (which is about 8 months movement from now, and I think that is very possible).
I am thinking we have about 5-6% representation for the earlier years on this poll? What is everyone's estimate on the representation??
abt 5%. I think people from 2001/02/03 must have got so much frustrated that very few of them even check the visa dates, forget about checking IV regularly.

That is exactly I was thinking. My first confusion was why the hell people want to check CP dates and create the false thread but then I realize they must not be around/ in the process to realize that CP dates != AOS dates. Some times CP ones equals but not always. Let's hope those equals to AOS dats this time.

you are asking for EB2 guys in 2004,2005,2006,2007 to wait for EB-3 guys in 2001,2002,2003,2004. Point is well taken. Its a humane way of handling things.
Perhaps they should not make EB1 current, let them wait a year or two while 2004 EB2 and 2001 EB3 get their green cards.

Your position helps yourself and nobody else. I dont have any problems 2001 EB3s getting approved before 2004 EB2's. Thats the way it should be, but not at the expense of EB2's. After carefully observing the trend in VISA approval and VISA bulletins, It is a reality that EB3-I is not moving and at the same time EB2 and EB1 are moving fast in relative terms and probably may even become current ( EB1 is already current ), But one thing USCIS is clearly not considering is the Priority Date, which basically means that they are not giving a damn thing about how long the person from EB3-I is waiting for. Here is my suggestion and some of the IV representatives need to analyse what Iam gonna say and see if they can stand up. Being an EB3-I india myself, i totally agree that EB1 and EB2 should be given a weightage and some preference over EB3, but I dont agree to what USCIS is currently following, EB2 With priority 2006 getting ahead of EB3-I with priority date 2001. This is ridiculous and to even think about it, it just sounds stupid. What they can do is , They can move the Dates in both Categories while giving preference to EB1 and EB2 first.
Please dont jump up & down before i complete. Iam just giving you an example of how things should work and how they can move dates forward for all 3 categories while maintaining that EB1 and EB2 gets preference over EB3. Let us ignore Eb1, since it is already current. Now Coming to Eb2, the priority Date is 2004 for them.Ideally speaking, They should not move them ahead until atleast EB3 reaches 2004. MOST Important things:
1. DO NOT talk to the party or attorney who sued you directly. If they call take the contact info, tell that ur attorney will call them.
2. Talk to your insurance company
3. Talk to an attorney
4. Gather all documentation that you have
Sorry about wat happened to you. Looks like there are considerable injuries . You might not win the case since you are at 80% fault. Like others said you can not go back to India like nothing happened. You have to consult an attorney, ask if he can work on contigency basis. They will get all med records to decide if other party is faking or claiming too much. If you loose the case, then it depends howmuch you have to pay. If damages awarded are less than 500K, you can file bankrupcy. But you end up paying like mortgage forever. Once you file bankrupcy, I think you can leave the contry legally. If you loose and wish to stay, Your payments will be reduced if you have kids and a house payment.

Since you don't have faith in IV and don't want to contribute...what are you doing here? When and If IV acheives result will you then remove money from your wallet? Also, ur goals other than getting ur green card does not match with IV's goal, so stop using "we" say "i".
No problem you can feel exactly how you want...i think the issues you and others have is beacuse u want to know what is happening with the funds. I agree on that point that we all come from india and having faith in any charity org is hard. But, you have to think beyond your myopic view. These people just like you have a full time job,they are equally frustrated with GC process and they have a lot to loose if they are caught in a criminal activities. So, tell me why would they throw away all that they have worked for to get a few thousand dollars from you all.People get shocked saying where did the 200K go? Please give me a break don't most H1B earn really high salary. If you are prudent and a good saver you can easily save that money in a few years time.

Since you can study under H4 you cannot apply for F1 (My wife tried that already) :)
What if the spouse (H1B holder) has to leave the country for some reason, say for an year? Then how is the student supposed to maintain his/her status?
So, I don't think that is true. If you get admission as a full time student, then you should be eligible for F1. My husband did this successfully in 2001.

Can we have some kind of time line that IV core/lobbying firm has knowledge of about S .9 and what might or will happen in March, just in another 15 days.
If I call the IV number, can we get the future time line.
My GUESS is that, it would take same time (if not more) for S9 as it would take for the IRAQ issue in Senate and House.
I think if it wasn�t for the IRAQ fiasco we would have had our issues resolved a year back.
And the start of S9 won�t happen till IRAQ issue is resolved/voted/rejected in senate or house.
I think the biggest hurdle for S9 would be the request by Democrats to DUBYA to provide certain number of votes from Republicans. Democrats do not want to put there neck on the line for immigration issue. In other words if it comes to party line voting S9 is probably on the fence, and most likely to not pass.

NO point#1 is not true. in fact it is biggest misconception - I remember reading some where that if you have consumed all your 6 years on H1, your extension of H1B beyond 6 years is only based on pending AOS. So in this case, if your 485 is rejected, also your H1B. If you continue to work on H1B even after this, it is illegal.
(This is what I believe & I may be wrong. I am not lawyer, this is not legal advice & check with your attorney first before deciding anything)

Well, it doen't make sense to buy any kind of property any where in universe now as they are all coming down. Some already had and some are near to the situation.
I agree with your point. So, wait for some more time. Right now most important thing is to hold your money tight. When you have a job market highly volatile, most important thing is to have money in hand for bad time (I pray to GOD that no one get to see this time).
