bringing bk the discussion to more serious point. We can all agree that on the surface immigration system here is seems unfair towards Indian, Chinese and Mexicans. Whats the reason behind it? why only three countries which suffers from long waits. Its demand and supply. If there were no country caps, all the visa's will be absorbed by these three countries. Even though it has cost me time and money, i think its the right policy. for a moment imagine there was no country limit, can you imagine for few years to come immigration will be from only these three countries. i think its only fair to limit how many people can come from one specific country.
and one more point, we are never going to get treated with respect and equality, just get used to it. every American knows we left our country to come to his. he is always gonna look down upon us. Immigrants are never treated with love, respect and dignity, no matter which country they go to. Case in point, Bangladeshi and Nepali migrant workers in India. We treat them like dirt back home, so discrimination against immigrants is part of immigration process. hopefully our ABCD offspring's will face less of it :)

In other words, in one single sentence, your perspective is that all of us who are working towards improving the system do not have a life. Wow! you argue that three countries will dominate immigration. how ever you dont point out the fact or cleverly ignore that all these people were not limited by the system through which they enter but limited by the system only after they enter. Hey we, those from those three countries, are already here. lets implement the country caps through out the high skilled immigration or get rid of them. I filed 485 in Sep 2003.
First Finger Print is done in Aug 2004.
Second Finger Print is done in April 2007.
Took Infopass on Sep 11th 2007 and I was told by Officer that everything looks good but still pending and asked me to check after 2 months.
Took Infopass again on Nov 13th 2007 and came to know that FBI Name Check is Pending on my and my wife's cases.
How do I know how long FBI Name Check is Pending on my case ?

I have a valid H1B permit (no visa). If I use AP to enter and according to the IV gurus I can still continue myself on H1B. Do I need to do any paperwork to change I-94 or it is automatically converted back to H1B as I am not using my EAD.

Hello friends,
We finally got CPO emails 10/28/2009 (only checked last evening), 11 years after first stepping foot on this land. My story is very much like those that others have posted, so I will not say more.
But I would like to go over what I did since October 1st (which is when my PD became current). Most of us on this forum know a little something about waiting for our PDs to be current or for some legislation to happen. But what I learnt in October is that once your PD becomes current, you go from one opaque waiting area to another one. The case status website does not have any useful info. May be we (IV) should work to get USCIS to add some real status information there (like if our case is assigned to an IO etc.). Anyway, these are what I did:
1) I had called NSC using the POJ method on 10/9/2009. But did not get any useful info.
2) I had called again on 10/13/2009 and this time a very friendly and I think very knowledgeable IO put me on hold for 5 mins - when she returned she told me that my case (and my wife's) was shelved because they thought that our finger prints were not done. But she said that she thinks they are all there and that she would make a request for the case to be assigned to an IO for adjdication.
3) On 10/21/2009, I called up my senator's office and requested them to open an inquiry. A couple of days later I got a reply from the senators office which included the response from USCIS - the USCIS response was practically useless asking me to wait 90 days.
4) On 10/28/2009, I got the CPO email.
Frankly, I dont know what helped, if anything at all did. The only thing I think that helped me is the support that I got from folks on this forum. You guys are a fabulous bunch.
Like others who have posted, I have been closely involved with IV since May 2006 and plan on keeping it that way going forward (cannot NOT check IV at least once a day :D). Go IV!!!!!
Please let me know if you want any specific information about my case/experience that can help in your case.

Yes IV members and other EB folks who are/will benefit(ing) from this are indebted big time to Aman and IV core. Com'on guys this fellow sold his house and spends a good chuck of his time for a selfless cause. IV core can sit on a couch like you and me watch TV, spend time with their family and not bother about contributing a penny. The least we could do is support them.

You have the right to feel what you want. But here are my 2 cents:
You on paper are now an American. It gives you good easy travel without visas etc. However people WILL treat you by your appearance/color/etc...
I request you to help your birth country by donating to schools etc like you donate to charities here(goodwill store etc).

Why should China/Taiwan/Arab get out of Gold? There are no strong indicators for doing that for now.
Eventually they will get out when they find there is no purchasing power on other side of globe. learn How gold crashed from $840 -$170 between 1981- 1990 and why gold price was stable between 1991-2001.
Gold price would not shoot up when most of the developed countries banks are in trouble like 1989-1992
I would not suggest more than 5% of your net worth in gold, but you should know your appetite
China has to lend more of its reserve to western economies otherwise its own export will be in peril, so they would not invest in gold...
Learn relationship between crude and gold, crude would go back to$50/barrel , so Arab govts would have not money to buy gold...
I cannot stop but laugh at your insistence that USA is global economic engine. More than half of the population is in deep debt and their population is ageing fast. Students can't borrow money now on easy terms to dund their education. THere is virtually no appetite for more debt to fire the economic engine at all.
Physical gold and silver is best to possess.
Russians were stronger in 1970's and US crushed them to no where ,800 banks failed in 1990 and Japanese were stronger than today's Chinese economy but US smashed in 5 years
